I am curious to know if there are any trustworthy estimates of cost-effectiveness of asynchronous teaching?

Agree, Online Synchronous is already also bad counted, it takes much more time to prepare to an online course comparative to a class course.

Yes, it is very hard to evoluate the cost of teaching efforts in asynchronous type of teaching...

Economic Projection is very complicated when we discuss synchronous and asynchronous methods. I think it would be great if we discuss the topic in the next meeting.

Exactly!! You got the point. If the system runs on accounting of say teaching hours, how to award teacher's efforts if she/he has crafted a MOOC and... just sits back and enjoys watching how hundreds of learners teach themselves?..
In Finland the situtaion seems to be the following, kind of transition period. We still have schedules, teaching hours etc. But nobody actually tries to count them. SO, there is much trust to the teacher. If you managed to become a professor, do whatever you like with the students, we know they will appreciate.
